ZZ SALVAGE CO. is a top-down light horror scavenging and extraction game set in abandoned off-world research facilities. Players search for salvage and objects from old Earth while managing limited visibility and supernatural threats. The core loop centers on exploration, looting, and safe extraction, either alone or with a small crew. Developed by July Studio as an indie action-adventure title for PC, it emphasizes careful route planning and group decisions over direct confrontation.
Gameplay
The gameplay revolves around navigating facility rooms and corridors from a top-down perspective. Players can view the current space but face restricted sightlines that hide dangers around corners or in adjacent areas. This setup requires constant awareness of surroundings and a planned return path before advancing further. Supernatural threats remain active and unpredictable, forcing players to weigh the value of additional loot against the growing risk of being caught.
Extraction forms the second half of every run. Recovering items is only the beginning; the haul must reach the exit intact. Deeper exploration yields more supplies yet increases the distance back to safety. Players decide in real time whether to push onward or retreat, with the choice directly affecting survival odds and overall success.
Game Modes
ZZ SALVAGE CO. supports solo play or online co-op for up to four participants. In solo mode, the full burden of scouting, looting, and extraction falls on one person. Co-op expands options through shared observation, verbal coordination of threats, and collective decisions on when to continue searching or head for the exit. The haul remains important, yet the structure encourages keeping the entire team together rather than abandoning members.
Setting and Atmosphere
Traces of old Earth appear throughout the abandoned facilities as salvage targets. The environment blends industrial research layouts with light horror elements, including pursuit by supernatural creatures. Limited visibility heightens tension during room-to-room movement, while the extraction focus shifts attention from pure combat to risk management and resource prioritization.
Is It Worth Playing?
ZZ SALVAGE CO. suits players who enjoy tense top-down scavenging experiences with extraction mechanics and light horror tension. The solo option delivers a focused challenge, while co-op adds layers of communication and shared responsibility. As an upcoming indie release on PC, it targets those interested in deliberate pacing over fast action, where route planning and exit timing matter as much as the items collected. The combination of visibility limits and supernatural pressure creates consistent decision points that reward caution and teamwork.
