WARHOUSE is an open-world crime sandbox that blends action, simulation and indie sensibilities on PC. Players operate in Meridian City, a 4 km by 4 km hand-crafted environment of glass towers, narrow streets, alleys and neon signs that cycles through day, night and rain. The core loop centers on running three businesses while managing a heat level that rises with illegal activity and falls through legitimate work.
Gameplay
The daily rhythm starts with stealing cars from the streets and delivering them to a chop shop for cash. Each delivery increases heat, drawing more police attention and raising the wanted level. To counter this, players shift to the family warehouse, where they operate pallet jacks, navigate racking and load box trucks at the dock to keep the books clean and reduce heat. A grocery store adds another layer of routine management and income. Money earned can fund property purchases, new vehicles or weapons, though spending remains optional.
Combat options range from shotguns and assault rifles to homing rocket launchers, a baseball bat and vehicle-mounted firepower such as a minigun auto-turret on one car. Larger threats include 2000-lb bomb drops. A unique tool called the Deer Hitter 2000 lowers the wanted level upon impact with a deer, reflecting the game's playful edge. Mission chains from city bosses appear on the minimap and often require leaving the city in a van for separate levels beyond the limits. The environment stays fully static with no procedural generation during play.
Immersion comes from over four hours of television across seven channels and nearly thirty hours of radio on nineteen stations, including talk shows. Every advertisement promotes a real location players can visit via GPS. Seasonal content, such as a Christmas channel and related items, activates automatically in December.
Game Modes
The primary experience is a single-player open-world sandbox focused on business management, exploration and crime. Mission chains provide structured objectives within the city and beyond its borders. Online co-op supports up to four players through a simple six-letter code system that requires no port forwarding. LAN co-op functions independently for local play. No additional named modes exist beyond these options in the current build.
The City and Its Atmosphere
Meridian City serves as the central hub, with its mix of modern and older architecture creating varied navigation challenges. Players can walk into advertised businesses, such as the Grill Sergeant restaurant, and interact directly. The persistent day-night cycle and weather effects influence visibility and pacing during drives or shootouts. Radio and television broadcasts reinforce the sense that every element of the city exists as a tangible place rather than background filler.
Is It Worth Playing?
WARHOUSE remains in Early Access with an expected duration of roughly one year. The solo developer has confirmed that the full city, all three businesses, boss missions, outside levels, police system, television and radio content, and four-player co-op function in the current build. Patches address bugs and incorporate player feedback submitted via Discord or email. Christmas seasonal elements are already implemented and will activate automatically.
This setup suits players comfortable with ongoing development who enjoy methodical sandbox loops combining theft, laundering and occasional heavy firepower. Those seeking a polished, complete experience may prefer to wait for further updates. The co-op code system lowers barriers for group play, while the static world and detailed audio layers reward repeated visits to the same streets and businesses.
