WELCOME TO WORK. THE TOILET'S OVER THERE.
You're a handyman. The client left the keys, a job list and vanished. Piecework pay: finish a task while you're on the job and you get the cash. Don't finish it, you don't see a single penny. He also told you to answer the phone, something about maintenance supposedly... Trouble is, your guts, bladder and sanity clocked in right alongside you, and all three couldn't give less of a shit about your pay or your work.
Toiletocalypse is an absurdist roguelike survival about battling the shits on company time.
DRINK. WORK. SHIT. REPEAT.
Water drops, pressure rises, sanity hangs by a thread. Tick tasks off the list: cleaning, mopping floors, assembling furniture... Every job can optionally be sped up with a QTE, to finish before your body says STOP. You can always drop a job too... Piecework is merciless: cash ONLY for a completed task, and you'll need it to survive the run, because starting items are limited... You'll make it to the toilet, or you'll shit yourself assembling a cabinet. Both options are in the game. One is cheaper.
WATER IS CURRENCY. PAPER IS TREASURE.
The tap in someone else's flat works... until the building management shuts off the water. And they will. After that, only your stash in bottles and jars matters. Water's worth boiling in the kettle... if there's power. Worth washing a dirty dish before you use it... and your hands after a session on the throne. So plan ahead or suffer.
GET CREATIVE WITH ITEMS!
No inventory, no pockets... Two hands for working, crafting and hauling items! Find a recipe that makes your life easier!
A SHIFT IS NEVER QUIET
Random events don't ask for permission: power failures, fuses to fix in the dark, a telemarketer pitching insurance against shitting yourself at work (hang up before it eats your sanity), turbo-shits, bad luck, and a call from management: "we're cutting the water any second now." You've got 30 seconds. Start pouring.
A BROKEN MIND ISN'T THE END... IT'S A STATISTIC.
There's no winning here, though a run can be completed... What there is, is the points grind... Points from every shift carry over after the run and unlock new items, meds, upgrades and events (yes, you unlock new ways to suffer too). Shifts from 10 to 30+ minutes... perfect for short sessions: a short one is a sprint along the edge, a long one is a crisis-management marathon.
