The War, Reforged
Theatre of War: Rearmed brings the entire series together on the latest version of its original engine. All titles now share a common technical foundation, ensuring consistency across gameplay, controls, and interface.
Earlier entries have been brought up to the level of later titles, supported by engine optimizations and targeted improvements. Visuals feature updated shaders, lighting, and effects, the interface has been redesigned for high-resolution displays, and controls and camera behavior have been refined for modern expectations.
Each title now aligns with the technical and gameplay level of the final entry, creating a cohesive experience across all campaigns. This is not a new engine, but the original foundation — refined, improved, and brought to its most advanced form.

Tactical Combat
At its core, Theatre of War is about control, precision, and understanding the battlefield.
Combat is built on realistic systems. Ballistics, armor penetration, and damage are calculated in detail. Vehicles respond to terrain, slope, and load, while crews rely on limited visibility and optics to detect threats. Infantry adapts to the situation, choosing firing positions and reacting to the environment in real time.
Systems and Replayability
Core systems have been revised and expanded to deliver a more consistent and readable battlefield. AI has been improved across all unit types, allowing infantry, vehicles, artillery, and aircraft to behave more predictably and effectively.
Command handling has been refined, giving you greater control over unit behavior, while engineering mechanics, visibility logic, and interaction systems have been expanded. Tanks can now repair, transport, and support in more flexible ways, and battlefield feedback has been improved without simplifying the underlying mechanics.
Beyond the core experience, the game remains open to experimentation. A mission and map editor allows you to create your own scenarios, while open resources and Workshop support make it possible to modify and expand the game further. Multiplayer has also been preserved and expanded, offering a wide range of maps and tactical possibilities for both competitive and cooperative play.
