The Haunted Archives is a co-op horror game that blends action and adventure elements on PC. Players form a small team to infiltrate abandoned locations filled with malfunctioning animatronics, using a single shared camera to capture footage under strict time and resource limits.
Gameplay
Teams share one camera and a finite supply of recording tape during each outing. Deciding when to film carries real risk, since activating the camera can draw attention from the animatronics that inhabit the buildings. Footage of dangerous encounters brings higher value once uploaded, which funds upgrades to equipment for future attempts. Restoring power, navigating dark corridors, and locating hidden details all form part of the core loop while the clock ticks toward the 4:00 AM deadline.
Animatronics left behind in these sites exhibit unpredictable behavior. They observe players, adapt to patterns, and in some cases appear to retain fragments of their original programming. Learning an individual animatronic's tendencies can prove as useful as knowing the right moment to retreat or hide. The camera itself serves as both tool and liability, since its presence influences how events unfold.
Game Modes
The experience centers on online co-op sessions that support one to four players. Proximity voice chat transmits real-time communication, allowing teammates to coordinate movements and reactions as threats close in. When a player goes down, the group faces an immediate choice between reviving the fallen member or continuing to record the unfolding situation. The shared camera and tape pool force constant collaboration on priorities throughout each run.
Core Loop and Progression
Each session begins with an unauthorized entry into a derelict building. Players must manage limited resources while documenting anomalies that would otherwise remain unseen. Successful escapes preserve the footage, which can then be reviewed and monetized to acquire improved gear. This cycle repeats across different locations, with the animatronics presenting fresh challenges based on their observed behaviors and the team's accumulated equipment.
The emphasis remains on tension created by scarcity. Every decision about tape usage, positioning, and whether to engage with anomalies directly affects the outcome and the value of the resulting clips.
Is It Worth Playing?
The game remains in active development with a playable Night demo scheduled for 2027. No player reviews or ratings exist yet because the title has not released. Those drawn to tense, resource-driven co-op horror that rewards careful observation and quick decisions may find the unique camera mechanics and animatronic encounters compelling once the demo arrives.
