You can’t build a winning hockey franchise from behind a computer. At least, that’s what 200 hockey men say.
But who cares if you “never played the game”? If you’re not a master of the “eye test”? You can read the numbers. Now you’re going to show them.
StickPuck GM puts you in charge of a hockey franchise, from draft-day gambles to playoff runs. Scout your next star, negotiate the deal that keeps your core together, and decide when to bet the future on one more shot at the Dunlop Cup.
Build your contender
Take charge of one of 32 fictional teams and put your stamp on the roster. Build around established stars, develop a young core, or tear it down and start again. Set your lines, hire your coaching staff and find the combination that can carry you through an 84-game season and best-of-seven playoff run.
Make the tough calls
Every roster spot and cap dollar counts. Negotiate salaries and contract terms, work the waiver wire, and find a trade that makes both sides say yes. Keep a favourite veteran or make room for the next generation? Pay your star or spread the money around? You’re the one making the call.
Find the next franchise player
Scout the draft, weigh potential against uncertainty, and develop prospects through your minor-league affiliate. Give a young player their chance — or give them more time. Tomorrow’s contender starts with the decisions you make today.
Build a career worth keeping
You have a five-year GM contract and something to prove. Meet expectations, earn GM Points and invest in upgrades to scouting, player development, team culture and your ability to make a deal. Build a franchise that can compete beyond a single playoff run.
Adapt as the league changes
Players develop, age and retire. Injuries disrupt your plans. Scouting reveals late bloomers, brittle skaters and other hidden traits. Expansion brings new teams and difficult protection decisions. Build a men’s, women’s or mixed league, then guide your franchise through a hockey world that keeps moving.
Pick your team. Build your franchise. Win the Dunlop Cup.
Prove those 200 hockey men wrong.
