Faction reputation with eight peoples around the Dragonsea shifts based on choices, opening or closing paths through ruins and conflicts. Death leads to a revival process via a Vesper hawk that carries ashes to a temple for a paid Reckoning, while lost gear forms a recoverable cache that some enemies may partially loot. A shared bank vault holds gold and items across locations, serving as the sole source for revivals. The structure encourages repeated runs to chase better loot tiers and different outcomes against five stirring dragons.
The World and Its Systems
The setting places the Dragonsea in the crater left by the World-Wyrm, with its shape preserved in the inland waters. Magic surges during the Quickening, increasing monster power and spell instability. Exploration follows King's Roads connecting cities and towns, where players can earn standing with different groups or oppose them. Ruins disturbed by the Quickening release undead threats. All progression ties back to the same systems: combat feeds loot, loot feeds the forge, and the forge supports further combat while Taint and resource management add risk layers.
