Poker Night Live is a strategy, indie, and casual poker title developed for PC that focuses on authentic No Limit Texas Hold'em played with real people or computer opponents. The game emphasizes social interaction through integrated webcams and voice chat that places participants around a virtual felt table in a detailed Vegas-style card room. Players host sessions directly without subscriptions or external servers, relying on Steam connectivity to bring friends together from anywhere.
Gameplay
Core play centers on full rules enforcement for No Limit Texas Hold'em, including side pots, split pots, minimum raises, and all-in situations with proper run-outs. Hosts set starting stacks, blind levels, turn timers, and rebuys, with the ability to adjust blinds during a session. Betting options include presets for half pot, three-quarter pot, full pot, or all-in, alongside pre-action checkboxes and a visible timer for each turn. Visual feedback includes cards flying from the dealer, chips sliding into the pot, and highlighted winning hands. Multiple camera angles provide seated, overhead, and free-camera perspectives, while the surrounding casino environment features slot machines, a bar, and ambient room sounds to enhance the atmosphere.
Controller support extends to Xbox, PlayStation, Switch Pro, and Steam Deck devices, complete with an on-screen keyboard and a scalable interface suited for television play. Twenty Steam achievements track milestones such as winning the first pot, completing a royal flush, defeating a hard bot, or succeeding with a 7-2 hand. The experience remains strictly for entertainment, as chips hold no cash value and cannot be purchased with real currency.
Game Modes
Players create private tables and invite Steam friends through a simple two-click process or by sharing a five-letter code, with full host control over rules and settings. Public tables allow anyone to browse and join open games worldwide with a single click. Individual controls let players mute others or hide specific cameras, while hosts retain the option to remove participants. For solo or filler play, bots occupy empty seats with easy, medium, or hard difficulty levels that feature distinct styles ranging from loose calling to more calculated bluffing and trap-setting. Bots automatically step aside when a human friend joins the table.
Visuals and Accessibility
The presentation recreates a lively high-end card room with realistic chip and card animations alongside the broader casino floor details. Interface elements remain clear and adjustable, supporting both close-up play and couch or handheld sessions. The system ensures no player is left short-handed by seamlessly integrating bots until real participants arrive.
Is It Worth Playing?
Poker Night Live suits players seeking straightforward multiplayer Texas Hold'em without financial stakes or complex setup. Its direct hosting model and Steam integration make it accessible for groups of friends, while the bot options provide immediate single-player matches against opponents with varied behaviors. Controller compatibility and achievement tracking add convenience for different play styles. Those who enjoy casual poker sessions with voice and visual interaction will find the core loop consistent and focused, particularly when rules enforcement and customization options align with their preferences. The absence of real-money elements keeps the focus on skill and social elements rather than gambling pressure.
