STRIKE THE MOTHERLODE
Start with simple tools, a patch of ground, and the hope that something valuable lies beneath your feet.
MOTHERLODE is a first-person mining, prospecting, processing and factory-engineering game built around one fundamental idea: the material you dig out of the ground matters.
Sample the earth and search for promising deposits. Excavate finite, composition-bearing terrain. Haul what you recover, pan it by hand, or build increasingly capable processing systems to separate valuable products from ordinary material and tailings.
What begins with a shovel can become an industrial operation.
PROSPECT. DIG. PROCESS. PROFIT.
Geology isn't simply a painted resource node waiting to be clicked. Prospect for deposits, learn what lies beneath your claim, and physically excavate the ground to recover material.
Native deposits are finite. Once you've worked out the valuable ground, you'll need to adapt, expand and search for your next opportunity.
BUILD THE OPERATION
Turn manual labor into an engineered production system.
Build and connect processing machinery, storage and material handling. Design material, water and power networks. Deal with throughput, capacity and backpressure. Improve your equipment and reorganize your plant as your operation grows.
Crusher, sluice, sorter, shaker table and other equipment aren't just decorations — each has a role in turning raw material into something worth selling.
FOLLOW THE MATERIAL
MOTHERLODE keeps track of physical material as it moves through your operation.
Excavated earth becomes material batches. Material can be processed, transported, stored, dumped into physical piles, separated into products and tailings, or deliberately discarded. Valuable material doesn't simply disappear because it passed through a machine.
Build a better operation because you understand where your material is going.
BUILD A BUSINESS
Sell what you recover and reinvest the proceeds.
Upgrade your tools. Buy better equipment. Improve hauling, storage and processing. Develop your claims and expand into new ground as existing deposits are depleted.
Your progression comes from turning knowledge, equipment and engineering into a more capable mining operation.
MORE THAN THE MINE
Your world persists beyond a single digging session. Develop your operation, manage equipment and claims, grow crops, experience changing weather and the day/night cycle, and shape the site into something that belongs to you.
Save your world and return to continue building.
DIG TOGETHER
Host or join multiplayer sessions and work in a shared world. Build, mine and operate together while MOTHERLODE maintains the distinction between shared world state and personal player progression where appropriate.
One player can prospect while another excavates. Someone else can keep the plant running.
Or you can build the entire operation yourself.
HOW DEEP WILL YOU GO?
There is always another improvement to make, another bottleneck to solve, another claim to develop — and another patch of ground that might be hiding exactly what you've been looking for.
