Metaversus is a 4v4 tactical first-person shooter available on PC in Early Access. Players enter a cyber war inside a simulated metaverse where teams compete for control of hardware infrastructure through a cycle of building defenses and engaging in direct combat.
Gameplay
The core loop alternates between an overhead construction phase and first-person combat rounds. Teams claim territory and then use an overhead view to place walls, firing positions, routes, shield domes, and turrets. These structures persist within a match, allowing teams to reinforce successful setups or adjust after losses.
Once the build phase ends, players drop into first-person perspective to attack or defend. Combat involves breaking through player-created fortifications with tools such as smoke, C4, rockets, and covering fire. An FPV payload drone can be piloted for explosive strikes. Every change to walls, routes, or devices alters the flow of the fight.
Equipment includes plasma weapons, heavy firepower, and tactical gadgets. Players can purchase procedural weapons that assemble with unique generated names, silhouettes, and behaviors. Additional options include deploying shield walls, planting jammers to disrupt systems, using a Neural Visor to inspect targets, or activating the Daemon Auto for assisted targeting and fire.
Game Modes
Competitive mode emphasizes resource management and coordination. Winning territory funds construction, and teams decide spending priorities. Each life carries weight, and positions established in one round can influence the next. Build Crates introduce choices: deploy a revealed construction immediately, hold it, or recycle it for credits.
Deathmatch allows free construction with respawning combat for experimentation. King of the Hill focuses on capturing and holding key positions. Trace Lab provides training drills to refine shooting and mechanics. These modes support different practice and play styles within the same 4v4 framework.
Combat and Systems
Defense and offense interact directly. A solid build forces opponents to solve new problems, while effective attacks dismantle infrastructure and reclaim territory. Procedural weapons and gadgets add variety to loadouts, encouraging adaptation to the evolving battlefield. The system rewards planning in the build phase and execution in combat.
Is It Worth Playing?
Metaversus suits players who enjoy tactical multiplayer shooters that combine construction and destruction in short, repeatable rounds. The Early Access version already includes multiple guns, construction options, game modes, and maps, with the developer planning further balancing and features based on player input. Those seeking a standard arena shooter without building elements may find the overhead planning phase less appealing. The game remains in active development, so expectations should account for ongoing adjustments to systems and pacing.
