Keep Tsuru-no-yu Burning
In the working port quarter of Funamachi, Tsuru-no-yu is one of the last wood-fired bathhouses still holding on—built in 1958, quietly losing money, and one polite developer's business card away from disappearing for good.
When the longtime boilerman breaks his hip, local firewood hauler Shuhei Mochizuki is asked to step in “for a week.” He expects hard work, aching hands, and a simple favor. Instead, he finds three women with three different asks—each tied to the bath, the street, and the parts of himself he thought were settled.
Over one cold week, your single choice sets Shuhei on one of three romance routes shaped by responsibility, loyalty, and the complicated ways people come back to a place—and to each other.
Meet the Cast
Sae Hayakawa — The Coin Laundry
Shuhei's ex-wife and co-owner of the laundry on the bathhouse lot, Sae is practical, organized, and impossible to fully leave behind while debt and property bind them together. With a new relationship already in motion, she and Shuhei face the most dangerous kind of intimacy: the kind that feels familiar, and still costs real people when it goes wrong.
Kanna Ogura — The Woman on the Front Desk
A retired pro wrestler with a career-ending neck injury, Kanna is loud, generous, and freshly back in the bathhouse she grew up in—now stuck behind the front desk she hates. As Shuhei steps into the boiler room, she pushes for a sale that might save her grandmother, while daring him to treat her like she isn't fragile—and to stay when trust gets harder than bravado.
Mio Tsujimura — The Stamp Book
Twenty-four and relentlessly earnest, Mio arrives with a stamp book proving she's visited 611 bathhouses—and a plan to run one herself. She asks Shuhei to teach her the fire, and their route becomes a mentor-and-mentee romance where admiration, jealousy, and shifting power decide whether he can be more than the man who opens the door.
Key Features
- Three distinct romance routes from one pivotal choice: Go upstairs with Kanna, take on Mio as an apprentice, or stay at the laundry with Sae—each path changes what Shuhei wants, how he fails (or doesn't), and what “moving on” looks like.
- A grounded, lived-in setting: A wood-fired bathhouse, a coin laundry on the same lot, and a neighborhood under shipyard cranes—daily work and routine become the stage for intimacy and change.
- Conflicts without a “villain”: No arrests, no grand conspiracies—just money, age, debt, pride, and time, pressing on people who still have to see each other tomorrow.
- Three personal relationship dynamics: A retired athlete returning home, a devoted apprentice challenging her mentor, and an ex-spouse bound by shared ownership.
