Joojee's Journey is a casual adventure game centered on narrative exploration and light platforming challenges. Players take control of Joojee, a bunny who awakens with no memories, and guide her through a world where she uses a magic brush to enter the minds of others. The core experience blends story moments with platform sequences and puzzle solving as she works to recover her past while aiding the characters she meets.
Gameplay
The main loop revolves around traveling between locations, speaking with animal characters, and using the brush to dive into their mental worlds. These sections turn into side-scrolling platformer areas filled with obstacles, moving platforms, and environmental hazards. Players collect glowing turnips that represent key memories, which advance both the personal stories and Joojee's own recollection of events. Puzzles appear in the form of riddles and logic challenges that require careful observation of the surroundings and creative use of the brush mechanics. An assist mode is available to bypass particularly difficult platforming segments for those who prefer to focus on the narrative flow.
Backstories unfold through these memory visits, mixing humorous and emotional beats as Joojee helps resolve conflicts or misunderstandings among her friends. The visual style emphasizes bright, whimsical environments that shift depending on whose mind is being explored. Controls remain straightforward, emphasizing precise jumps and interactions rather than complex combat or resource management.
Game Modes
Joojee's Journey operates entirely as a single-player experience with no multiplayer components or separate modes. The structure follows a linear narrative path that incorporates platforming sequences and puzzle elements within the mind-exploration framework. Progress ties directly to story advancement through memory collection, with the assist option serving as an accessibility toggle rather than a distinct mode.
Story and Characters
The narrative follows Joojee's efforts to piece together her identity after a sudden memory loss triggered by an emotional event. Each character she encounters reveals touching or lighthearted details about their relationships and personal struggles. These revelations often connect back to Joojee's own forgotten past, creating a web of interconnected memories. The tone balances gentle humor with moments of reflection on friendship and forgiveness, delivered through dialogue and visual storytelling in the mind sequences.
Is It Worth Playing?
This title suits players who enjoy short, story-driven adventures that combine platforming with puzzle elements in a cozy setting. User feedback highlights the solid platforming feel, approachable puzzles, and appealing art direction as strengths for a compact experience lasting around six hours. The assist mode broadens accessibility for those less comfortable with precise platforming. With its focus on emotional character moments and straightforward mechanics, the game appeals to fans of narrative-driven casual adventures who value heartfelt stories over extended playtime or competitive elements. The PC version expands availability beyond its original release on other platforms.
