Elyrion - The Secret Book is a 2D stylized action RPG developed for PC by a single creator. It takes place in the world of Elyrion just before the events of the upcoming Rise of the Raven and blends action, indie, RPG, and adventure elements into a single-player experience centered on quests, combat, and discovery.
Gameplay
Players navigate diverse environments populated by unique monsters while tackling combat encounters and environmental challenges. The core loop revolves around exploring areas, engaging enemies with weapons and magic, and managing resources through a crafting system that supports ongoing progression.
Weapon and armor upgrades follow a detailed rarity system that rewards collection and refinement of gear. Special abilities expand combat options beyond basic attacks, allowing for varied approaches to fights against standard foes and larger threats. Dungeons form key destinations, each featuring its own distinct boss that requires adaptation of tactics and equipment.
Secrets scattered throughout the world encourage thorough investigation, with crafting providing additional depth to preparation and customization.
Game Modes
The experience centers on a single-player structure that integrates main quests with side quests. These form the primary framework for advancement, guiding players through the story and optional objectives alike.
A wide range of challenges supplements the quest lines, including combat trials, exploration tasks, and puzzle-like discoveries that appear across environments and dungeons. This setup supports flexible pacing, where players can focus on the central narrative or branch into additional content as desired.
Exploration and Progression
Progression ties directly to the rarity system for equipment, which layers incremental improvements onto weapons and armor. Magic and special abilities grow alongside these upgrades, creating opportunities for different playstyles over time.
The crafting system integrates with exploration by turning gathered materials into useful items, while secrets and hidden elements reward players who search beyond obvious paths. Multiple dungeons serve as structured highlights within the broader world, each presenting unique boss encounters that test accumulated skills and gear.
Development and Availability
A single developer built the game with occasional AI assistance limited to code review and completion. It remains in a pre-release state on PC, with no additional updates or seasonal content confirmed at this time.
Availability is limited to the upcoming launch, after which single-player sessions will form the complete package without multiplayer components.
Is It Worth Playing?
Those drawn to 2D indie RPGs that emphasize exploration, gear progression, and boss encounters may find the title appealing once released. The focus on a rarity-based system and integrated crafting offers tangible advancement within a compact single-player format.
Players who prefer structured quests alongside optional challenges and secrets will encounter consistent opportunities for engagement. The single-creator origin suggests a focused vision, though the absence of released reviews leaves reception to be determined after launch.
