DEEPest RESEARCH is a single-player adventure game centered on smartphone investigation and narrative deduction. Players step into the role of Yuji Ichinose, an elite lawyer whose wife May disappears without explanation. The story unfolds through her locked device, revealing layers of her private communications and online activity that challenge initial assumptions about their marriage.
Gameplay
The core loop revolves around navigating a simulated smartphone environment. Players freely browse messaging applications, social media platforms, a password manager, and web content to gather clues. Finding passwords unlocks additional accounts and private messages that expand the available information.
Keywords collected during exploration serve as search terms. Entering these into the in-game browser or social media feeds surfaces new posts, conversations, and details that advance the investigation. This process builds a growing pool of evidence without requiring external tools or real-world connectivity.
Once sufficient information accumulates, the Deduction system activates. Players connect specific pieces of evidence to form conclusions about events leading to the disappearance. Each successful deduction reveals further context and directs attention toward unresolved questions.
Game Modes
The game operates entirely in a single-player format with no separate multiplayer or competitive options. All progress occurs through sequential investigation sessions that mirror the story's linear yet branching discovery structure. Players advance by completing evidence chains rather than through timed challenges or alternative scenarios.
Exploration remains open within the phone interface, allowing repeated checks of apps and searches as new keywords emerge. This encourages thorough review of messages and posts before moving to deduction steps.
Story and Setting
The narrative follows Yuji's efforts to locate May after her bag and phone are recovered from a hotel. Initial details portray her as a half-French beauty who once attempted murder for personal reasons. Luxury provided by the marriage was intended to distance her from past conflicts, yet hidden elements surface through digital traces.
Character design and scenario work emphasize psychological tension around trust and hidden identities. Voice work for the main character appears in the full release, supporting key dialogue moments.
Is It Worth Playing?
DEEPest RESEARCH suits players who enjoy methodical mystery adventures built around interface interaction and evidence assembly. The smartphone mechanics provide a focused way to uncover plot points without traditional movement or combat systems.
With a demo already available and the full version scheduled for late November 2026, interested players can test the core exploration and deduction flow in advance. The title stands as an independent experience from its developer, with support planned for multiple languages in the complete release.
Those drawn to story-driven titles that reward careful reading and logical connections will find the structure rewarding. The absence of established player reviews at this stage means expectations should center on the described investigation systems rather than unconfirmed elements.
