Core Awakened stands as an independent 2D fighting game developed for PC by RrodasS Estudio. Players engage in one-on-one battles between fantasy warriors who wield distinct powers tied to their backgrounds. The title emphasizes direct combat without reliance on standard health systems, instead focusing on energy management and timing.
Gameplay
Combat centers on charging energy to access CORE I, II, and III powers. Fighters combine movement, basic attacks, and blocks to open opportunities for combos and special finishers. Each finisher displays an illustration of the warrior in action. The absence of a traditional health bar shifts emphasis toward mastering combat rhythm and deciding the precise moment to release accumulated power. This approach rewards precise execution over simple damage accumulation.
Warriors draw from varied origins, including human fighters, creatures, otherworldly beings, and supernatural entities. Each character features unique abilities, associated stages, personal stories, and biographies. One confirmed example is Virgilio, portrayed as a Paraguayan soldier of the Chaco with his own set of powers and background details.
Game Modes
Three primary modes structure the experience. Arcade mode pits players against CPU opponents in a progression that leads to a final confrontation with the boss Varkhos. Local Versus allows two players to compete directly on the same PC. Online mode supports Steam-based multiplayer matches that include rematch options and character selection screens.
Arcade and local modes function fully offline. Online play requires an active internet connection along with Steam. The game supports both keyboard input and Xbox controllers for all modes.
Controls and Customization
Options menus permit separate adjustments to music, sound effects, and voice volumes. Players can also toggle camera shake on or off according to preference. These settings help tailor the audiovisual feedback during intense exchanges without altering core mechanics.
Language support covers menus and dynamic text in Spanish, English, and Brazilian Portuguese. Character stories, biographies, and any text embedded in images remain in Spanish only.
Is It Worth Playing?
Core Awakened targets enthusiasts of 2D fighting games who seek alternatives to conventional health-bar systems. The energy-charging loop and emphasis on timing create a distinct rhythm that differs from many standard fighters. With confirmed support for local and online play alongside a single-player Arcade path, the title accommodates both solo progression and direct competition.
The game remains listed as coming soon on its platform, so no player reviews or post-release updates are available at this stage. Those drawn to character-driven rosters with illustrated finishers and flexible control schemes may find the mechanics engaging once it launches. Availability on PC through standard digital storefronts positions it as an accessible indie option for fighting game fans exploring new entries in the genre.
