Coalition Wars is a turn-based strategy game that combines precise artillery combat with large-scale conquest on PC. Two rival coalitions, the FAC and the EFR, battle for control of a continent through commanders, vehicle armies, and explosive turn-based fights. Players adjust shot angles and power while accounting for wind, gravity, and weather to reshape destructible terrain with every impact.
Gameplay
Core combat takes place in 3D artillery battles where units fire in sequence or as entire armies each turn. Tanks, mortars, and rocket launchers interact differently with terrain and physics, while support vehicles repair damage, project shields, or intercept incoming shells. Every explosion alters the battlefield through craters, landslides, burning patches, or buried vehicles, forcing constant adaptation. Commanders bring unique abilities that influence tactics, and surviving units gain experience that improves their performance over time.
Army building involves purchasing from 26 vehicle types, upgrading armor and ammunition, and equipping one of 114 weapons or gadgets. These range from cluster munitions and napalm to orbital strikes and a powerful nuke reserved for the heaviest carriers. Automatic reinforcement options create balanced or specialized forces when manual management is not preferred. The CPU opponent follows identical rules, selecting weapons to match its combat style and adjusting across three difficulty settings.
Game Modes
Quick Battles mode supports 1 vs 1, 1 vs 2, 2 vs 1, or 2 vs 2 matches against the CPU or other players. Online multiplayer extends this to four participants for cooperative or competitive play, with campaigns that can be saved and resumed later. The Conquest campaign places armies on a living map divided into regions, where players move forces, capture territory, manage resources, and pursue victory conditions across randomly generated, custom-drawn, or real-world maps.
Special regions such as capitals and factories provide bonuses, while economy systems cover treasury management, loans, and plunder. Espionage and reconnaissance create fog of war, and players can resolve battles instantly or play them out in full 3D. Up to 100 commanders with distinct personalities and abilities lead forces, gaining ranks or perishing permanently in combat.
Campaign and Customization
Conquest spans continents with up to 300 regions and supports extensive map options, including player-created designs shared via code. Victory conditions, starting funds, and army numbers are adjustable. Thirty environments feature varied weather and lighting that affect shell trajectories and unit visibility. Nineteen languages are available for interface and subtitles, switchable at any time.
Between battles, commanders train and armies receive reinforcements. Reports track every engagement, fallen leaders, and campaign progress, with options to print summaries. Ten save slots allow multiple ongoing wars.
Is It Worth Playing?
Coalition Wars suits players who enjoy methodical artillery aiming combined with strategic army management and territorial control. Its free-to-play model and support for both solo campaigns and online sessions make it accessible for those seeking single-player depth or competitive matches. The blend of destructible environments, commander progression, and customizable maps offers replayability without requiring prior experience with similar titles. As an upcoming release, its reception will depend on final performance and community feedback once available.
