Bluff, You Donkey! is a strategy card game that combines bluffing, deduction, and social interaction in a casual multiplayer format for PC. Players manipulate opponents through lies and accusations while managing a shared pile of face-down cards, with the first to empty their hand declared the winner and the rest left as donkeys in their kingdom.
Gameplay
The core loop revolves around rounds where one player selects a rank, such as kings, and everyone must play at least one card of that rank face down. Players without the required cards can still participate by placing anything, relying on secrecy since only the individual knows the true contents. Aces serve as wild cards, allowing impossible claims to potentially hold up under scrutiny.
Accusations form the heart of the tension. Any participant can call out a suspected liar during play. A correct call forces the bluffer to collect the entire pile, while an incorrect accusation sends the pile to the accuser instead. This risk-reward dynamic encourages careful observation of opponents' behavior and card management.
Proximity voice chat enhances the experience, letting players speak from their virtual table positions to defend themselves, accuse others, or sow doubt. The system supports both push-to-talk and open mic, creating chaotic table talk that mirrors real-life social deduction. A built-in timer punishes slow turns by having idle players gradually fall asleep, keeping rounds brisk.
Game Modes
The game centers on a single core experience that scales from intimate groups to larger gatherings. Sessions support two to ten participants, with options to join Steam friends or connect via LAN for local play. When fewer players are available, intelligent bots can fill remaining seats, programmed to analyze plays and employ cunning strategies that challenge even attentive humans.
Customization options let hosts adjust nearly every setting through the menu, tailoring the round to group preferences. A dedicated tutorial teaches the rules in roughly two minutes, lowering the barrier for newcomers while allowing experienced players to jump straight into competitive matches.
Multiplayer and Social Features
Built-in voice tools and proximity audio promote lively interaction, turning each session into a mix of strategy and performance. Players prove innocence or expose bluffs through spoken arguments, often leading to overlapping conversations around the virtual table. The design rewards quick thinking and psychological reads over pure luck, as successful manipulation depends on convincing others to take the bait.
Support for up to ten players makes it suitable for larger friend groups, while bot integration ensures accessibility for solo or small-party sessions. LAN play adds flexibility for in-person gatherings without relying on internet connections.
