Gameplay
The core loop centers on preparing forces for sieges that play out without player input once launched. Each round presents three fighters and three weapons on the shelf. Available gold determines purchases, after which weapons attach to selected units and six slots fill for deployment. The siege resolves behind the scenes and replays in sixty seconds, with options for one, two, or three times speed and no ability to skip or intervene.
Castle health persists across rounds for the player while the enemy resets to full each time. Starting at five thousand hit points, damage carries forward and repairs cost gold that could otherwise fund more units. The primary experience is the campaign, structured around fifteen wins to complete a run. Difficulty rungs progress from Easy and Normal, which remain open, to Hard, Very Hard, and Extreme, each requiring a prior victory on the rung below. Harder settings increase enemy resources such as charms, wall guns, or extra units without altering AI behavior.
Ranked mode locks the campaign to Normal difficulty and tracks performance across quarterly seasons. Sandbox allows direct setup of two Aspects against a chosen seed for testing combinations without campaign constraints. The included demo provides the full campaign experience with all Aspects, rungs, relics, and challenges available from the start.
Key Mechanics and Progression
Relics appear on the shelf every second round or every round under certain conditions, offering one-time or run-long rule changes at a fixed gold cost. Examples include barriers that consume initial attackers or items that prevent a single keep collapse. Charms enhance folded weapons and arrive solely through that system.
Victory in a full campaign unlocks a single dragon encounter with an enormous health pool in a timed fight. Damage dealt carries over as permanent profile progress, with a threshold unlocking a weapon for ongoing use. The rival Aspect draws from the run seed and maintains consistent strength based on round number rather than adapting to player choices.
