Apartment 3502 | 3502号室 is a first-person psychological horror game developed as an indie title for PC. Players take on the role of a resident in a Japanese high-rise apartment building, where everyday routines shift into unease after strange noises emerge from the supposedly empty neighboring unit.
Gameplay
The core loop centers on daily life in room 3501 on the 35th floor combined with active investigation. Players move through their own apartment, the shared hallways, and common building areas while listening for disturbances and examining the environment for clues. Events unfold gradually, starting with audio cues from room 3502 and expanding into visual anomalies across the floor and surrounding spaces. Exploration remains deliberate, with attention paid to realistic interior details, ambient building sounds, and the slow erosion of normalcy. Story progression relies on piecing together observations rather than combat or timed challenges, leading players toward revelations about the source of the disturbances.
Game Modes
The experience operates as a single-player narrative title with no multiplayer components. Progress follows a linear story path that branches into multiple endings based on the choices and thoroughness of exploration. All endings become available after roughly one hour of play, encouraging repeat sessions to uncover different outcomes without requiring extensive additional time. The structure emphasizes focused, self-contained sessions suited to players who prefer atmospheric investigation over open-world freedom or competitive elements.
Story and Setting
Set entirely within a Japanese high-rise, the narrative builds tension through the contrast between ordinary apartment living and inexplicable phenomena. The protagonist begins with a quiet routine on the 35th floor until noises from the vacant room 3502 trigger a series of unsettling occurrences in the hallway and personal living space. Clues scattered throughout the building gradually reveal the underlying mystery, relying on environmental storytelling and player-driven discovery rather than direct exposition. The confined setting heightens the sense of isolation while allowing detailed examination of familiar spaces that turn increasingly unfamiliar.
Is It Worth Playing?
This title suits players drawn to short, focused psychological horror experiences that prioritize atmosphere and narrative payoff over extended campaigns or action sequences. With a complete playtime of approximately 60 minutes to reach all endings, it delivers a compact story that rewards careful observation and multiple playthroughs. The realistic 3D presentation of apartment interiors and building common areas, paired with layered ambient audio, creates an immersive sense of place that aligns with the genre expectations for subtle dread. Those seeking quick, replayable sessions centered on uncovering a building mystery will find the structure effective, while players preferring longer campaigns or varied mechanics may view the brevity as a limitation rather than a strength. The absence of additional content updates keeps the focus squarely on the core single-player loop as presented at launch.
