You wake up in a padded cell with no memory of how you got there. A voice in your ear says his name is Dex. He's going to help you remember.
About the game
Ash is a patient at Helix Industries, a corporation that resolves traumatic experiences. Across 808 days of therapy, your operator Dex guides you through your own past memories: An art gallery you don't remember visiting, a tabletop fantasy game you don't remember playing, a restaurant where someone never arrived to meet you, a cabin in the snow you used to call home.
Features
808 is a first-person narrative game in the tradition of The Stanley Parable, The Beginner's Guide, and Firewatch. The game is played by walking, looking, listening, observing, carefully. The relationship between Ash and Dex is the core of the experience.
1–1:30 hours of single-player narrative
Fully voice-acted dialogue between two central characters
14 distinct memory environments, each with its own mechanics, drawing in 3D space, rolling dice against a dragon, raking a zen garden, waiting at a table that won't be filled
A diegetic UI overlay that tells you things the dialogue won't
Branching dialogue that shapes the tone of your relationship with Dex
One ending. The kind you carry with you.
Memories are what makes you, you.
By the end, you will understand what happened to you, and what is still happening, and what has been happening for longer than you knew.
This is a quiet game. It is not a horror game in the way that word is usually used. But it is, in its own way, the most unsettling thing we know how to make.
