TASMON: Taskbar Monsters is a free-to-play idle RPG for PC in which a small party of monsters handles combat automatically while the game window sits in the taskbar. Players return at intervals to adjust teams, hatch eggs, and manage progression without constant attention.
Gameplay
The core loop centers on an auto-battling party of three monsters that fights on its own during work or downtime, returning with eggs and loot. Eggs hatch into monsters drawn from a roster of 156 species spread across ten rarity tiers that narrow at the higher end. Monsters can be evolved and advanced through a six-stage awakening process. Reaching the final stage transforms a monster into a unique Soul-Sealed Weapon bearing its own serial number.
An elemental system governs combat effectiveness with a fire, water, wind, and earth cycle alongside light and dark affinities. Advantages and disadvantages become especially relevant in tougher content where resistances and team composition matter. The Hero Pack 2 expands options in the Hero Series Act 3 by unlocking the second available partner so both stories can be completed. Recruited heroes can be switched between their fallen-to-darkness appearance and awakened form, with the change visible on icons, portraits, the codex, and the party screen. The pack also grants one extra random egg draw each day and introduces auto expeditions that automatically collect a returning team and redeploy the same lineup. Rewards accumulate in an expedition pocket that keeps the main inventory clear.
Game Modes
Progression occurs through the Gauntlet, which offers four difficulty tiers: Normal, Nightmare, Hell, and Torment. Later stages in these tiers emphasize elemental matchups and defensive planning over simple power. A weekly Score League adds seasonal challenges and exclusive rewards. Expeditions run in the background as part of the idle systems, with the auto feature and pocket storage streamlining collection. The Hero Series provides story-focused recruitment across multiple acts, where partners join the team and their individual progress tracks separately.
Progression and Customization
Daily draws and expedition rewards feed into collection and awakening goals. Crystals of Turning included in the Hero Pack 2 allow players to reroll offered skills without randomness in the pack itself. All content in the pack remains fixed and does not alter core combat balance. Existing progress from other Hero Packs stays intact, and nothing previously purchased is removed. The game receives regular updates shaped in part by player feedback through an in-game suggestion system.
Is It Worth Playing?
TASMON suits players who enjoy passive collection and incremental monster development while multitasking on a PC. The taskbar format keeps the game accessible without demanding full-screen sessions, and the combination of auto-battles, awakening ladders, and elemental strategy provides steady goals. The free-to-play model with fixed-content packs like Hero Pack 2 supports continued play without pressure on core systems. Those who prefer active combat or large-scale multiplayer experiences may find the idle pace less engaging, while collectors and fans of steady, background progression will find consistent depth in the monster roster and awakening mechanics.
